The Baggage Of Depression || Teenage Summer Baggage #2

  TEENAGE SUMMER BAGGAGE #2: The Baggage Of Depression   In Psalm 34:18, God's Word encourages the troubled and broken hearted with this promise, "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."  This message addresses those who are depressed, those who have the tendency to get depressed and those who are looking to help those who are depressed. May God give great rest and victory to those with mental struggles of depression. Psa 34:17  The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. Psa 34:18  The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Psa 34:19  Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. NOTE THREE CAUSES for DEPRESSION WITHIN THIS PASSAGE (they all are related but slightly different): Trouble : adversary, adversity, angu...

Am I Really Saved? || Teenage Summer Baggage #1

Image
TEENAGE SUMMER BAGGAGE #1: Am I Really Saved? One of life's challenging questions, "Am I Really Saved?" is asked within our passage (Acts 16:25-34).  We read the question in Acts 16:30, "...Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Here's my question for you...do you know if you are really saved? In the Bible, being saved means trusting in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins. He arose three days after dying to display His power over the grave. When you believe in Jesus Christ, you receive eternal life! In Acts 16:31, God sent a preacher to answer this important question, "...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." Praise the Lord for people who God calls to point us to the answer of this question. I. The d efiance against the workmen proclaiming salvation. Acts 16:19-24 A. Faithful men proclaimed the truth. vs 19-20 B. Defiant men refused the truth. vs 21-22 C. The faithful men were beaten and disrespect...

Teenage Summer Baggage

Image
God has given a series of messages for the teenagers I'm preaching to this year at camp. It's called, "TEENAGE SUMMER BAGGAGE," and I'm asking you to pray with me for rest and victory in each teenager's life. Also, please pray for wisdom as to when to preach each message during the week. Thank you! We all have weights that we pointlessly carry around. These weights are referred to as "baggage." We can drop these weights at the feet of Jesus and find complete rest and victory.  Let's examine 9 weights that are noticeably hindering our next generation, and may the Lord give great rest and victory over each baggage point. TEENAGE SUMMER BAGGAGE #1: Am I Really Saved? In Acts 16:30, this very question is asked, "...Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"  In Acts 16:31, God sent a preacher to answer this important question, "...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." It's my prayer that teenagers will believe on...

We Are Part Of God’s Plan For Government

Image
(Click the picture  above to listen to the mp3 sermon that was preached on this topic on June 30th, 2021 at Princeville Baptist Church during the Wednesday Evening Bible Study.)   We Are Part Of God’s Plan For Government Psalm 8:17  The wicked shall be turned into hell,  and  all the nations that forget God. God created the government to be stewarded by God’s people. It has been said, We get the government we deserve. We, as believers, have the power to shape history—through the tools God has given to us. Note John Quincy Adams who said, “The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.”   Keys to understanding our role in our government:  I. God promises national healing through “if my people…”: 2Ch 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from ...

Our Fathers Have Told Us

Image
We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. Psalm 44:1 First, let me start by saying, “Happy Father’s Day.” I’m grateful for my father. I hope you are grateful for your father as well! A father has the great responsibility and honor of pointing their children to God. Psalms 44:1 causes me to contemplate three powerful truths about the importance of fathers testifying about God to their children. They are as follows: 1. A father should experience God. We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. Psalm 44:1 There’s something powerful about sh a ring a personal experience. Every father should have a pursuit of God presently going on in their lives. Only then will a father realize the mighty acts of God in their individual pursuits of God. After that, a father can share with others what God has done for them in their generation. Therefore, the...

June 2021 || Ministry Update

Image
  Praise the Lord For Eternal Life! My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. - John 10:27–28 Dear Friends and Family, Our 2021 Summer ministry is revving up! HERE ARE THE BIGGEST REJOICE POINTS SINCE OUR LAST UPDATE: (We send monthly updates when we are home and can get to the printer. We are starting to send more frequent updates via email.) 1. GOD HAS BLESSED BY PROVIDING  EVENTS! Concerning the filling of our schedule, our philosophy has always been “…if the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that…” and since our May 2021 update the Lord has provided 4 more event opportunities: 2 of those in 2021 and 2 in 2022. This takes the 2021 event total to 37 and the 2022 total to 5. We rejoice in how the Lord is filling our schedule. 2.  GOD BLESSED WITH ADDITIONAL GIFTS!  God provided for specific needs with some gracious one-time love...
