TIME

Image
TIME Time... Time (not money)... Time with those you love etches amazing love in the hearts and minds of your loved ones.  Don’t forgot to make time for those closest to you. —> Teach them God’s love! —> Interest yourself in others! —> Make the most of it! —> Enjoy every minute!  It’s takes energy, sacrifice, planning and awareness, but, once you commit to it, everything begins to change. Relationships draw closer. Trust builds. Love arises. Joy continues. You don’t need everything, but we do need God in everything. Honor Him with your time. Teach others to do the same! Better  is  little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.  Better  is  a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. Proverbs 15:16-17 Better  is  a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. Proverbs 16:8 Thank you for reading! Blessed Beyond Measure, Pastor Justyn Smith *pic amazing...

The After Affect

The After Affect Photo Credit:  Priscilla Du Preez  on unsplash The After Affect An affect is defined in the following way in the  Merriam-Webster Dictionary : "...A set of observable manifestations (noun); to produce a material influence upon or alteration in (verb)" As parents, grandparents and leaders, we often ponder the power of our influence on the lives that matter the most to us - the lives we have the privilege of leading. Many times, the greatest opportunities to influence an individual's life will come during a situation or after the individual has come through a situation. I call this, " THE AFTER AFFECT ." We must realize the power of our influence and then purpose to use it for the glory of God. Now, let's consider Pastors, Evangelists and any Bible teachers we know. They spend hours each week preparing messages from the Lord to deliver to their congregations so the Word may go forth in power - changing every life. Sadly, many preachers wonde...

THE BEAUTY IN VIEW

Image
THE BEAUTY IN VIEW Our vacation has been wonderful! One of the highlights for me (among many) has been awaking before the break of day, heading a couple miles down the mountain from our condo, finding my seat at a table at the Inn at Silver Creek and then spending time in prayer, study and sermon prep (the work of a preacher is never through). ;-) While enjoying this “God and I time,” I have had the privilege of seeing many sunrises like the one pictured, but today’s (the one pictured) takes the cake.  Instantly, upon noticing the beauty of my morning view, I quickly made my way outside and snapped the picture… Amazing, isn’t it?! God quickly brought the following verse to mind, Malachi 4:2, “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…” Do you know the beauty that is in view for those that fear His name? O what power! O what glory! O what beauty! O what healing our Lord shall come with when He comes again! This truth of Chri...

When Two Become One

Image
When Two Become One Seven years ago yesterday (July 21st, 2014) I married the lady of my dreams! She is smart, godly, and lovely on the inside and out, and most of all, she is God’s perfect match for me! I call her my “good thing” based upon Proverbs 18:22 which says, “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the LORD.” (God knew I needed her to obtain favor with HIM…so He gave me Rachel!) :) The date: Saturday, July 21st, 2007. The location: Birch Harbor Baptist Church, Wasilla, AK. The occasion: God taking two individual people and making them one by the bond of holy matrimony (a term which many today disregard) before God and many witnesses.  Seven years have passed since that wonderful day when we said, “I Do,” and we thank the Lord for every minute of our marriage. The valleys, the mountain tops, the trials, and the joys have all been profitable to bind us together for the glory of God, for after all, two did not become one for the purpose of be...

Remember The Days Of Old

Image
Remember The Days Of Old Deuteronomy 32:7 “Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.” Today is the Centennial Celebration of the Werner Homestead in Palmer, Alaska! Families are coming from around the country to visit the old homestead, and it is wonderful to see many familiar faces, as well as, those who we have never meet. As people gather around the old barns, the family cabin, and articles of their history, it is interesting to hear all the stories and memories that they have about life in Alaska in the homesteading days. My wife’s family picked a wonderful verse from the book of Deuteronomy to point out the importance of remembering our history, “Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.” This verse is specifically referring to the people of Israel reminding their children about...
