Surgery Update
June 23rd, 2025
(Surgery took place on the 20th)
I can really tell God is answering your prayers. Recovery is going well! Thank you!
Here are the answers to some of the questions we’ve been receiving:
Complications?
Not really, but they didn’t expect my deviated septum to be as curved or as deep as it was. This led to more time in surgery to straighten and address blood loss therefore having to cauterize the area. Other than that, the procedure went smoothly. Rachel said the doctor was apparently impressed by all the goop that was coming out of my nasal cavity. He tried to capture it on his phone, but wasn’t able to capture it before it was gone in their machine (I’m guessing fancy surgical vacuum machine.) I had a great team of doctors. Thankful for them!
My Daily Process?
I have been getting lots of good sleep, and thankfully haven’t had any soreness to other parts of my body yet…which is a huge blessing. I take meds every four hours in order to fulfill my order and prevent infection. I perform a nasal rinse with a saline solution 5 times a day (not a bad process, and this will help when it comes to pulling out the splints.
Pain?
Pain was pretty intense the night of returning home from surgery, but it was loads better even in the middle of the night. The pain is near nothing currently though I know this could change in a moments notice. So I’ll be thankful for where I’m at.
Pressure?
The pressure behind my eyes and in my nasal passage is more of what I feel. The pressure can change with movement, etc. But it isn’t bad pressure either. I can simply tell something is there.
Fevers?
Yes. I have had back and forth fevers which is possible par for the course. They have been low grade and not horrible to manage. They move on quickly.
Food?
Yes, please! 😁 I have been drinking my Kachava, Orgain Protein drinks, applesauce, and bread. I may start to throw in some go macro bars here soon (the salted caramel and chocolate chips if you know what I mean).
Smiling?
On the inside. I’m really trying to smile for you in the last picture below.
Tomorrow?
The splints are getting pulled out Tuesday at 2:15 AK time. They say I should notice great improvement after tomorrow’s visit. Either way, we’ll have something to report.
THANK YOU
Thank you for taking extra time to read about the happenings on this end. We can;t wait to see how this procedure affects my overall health. Thank you for all the prayers and all those who are giving extra to help us during this down time. You are a tremendous blessing a God is using you greatly to encourage us.
