Why do we hold a Vacation Bible Time at Crossroads Baptist Church?
I will give you three reasons out of many as to why we still hold a Vacation Bible Time at Crossroads, and those reasons are as follows:
1. We desire to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who have never heard It. “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the Gospel to you…” Romans 1:15
(It’s astounding to realize how many of our young people have only heard Jesus Christ as a curse word, but they have never heard that Jesus Christ came to set us free from sins. We want to change that!)
2. We desire to invest all things spiritual into our next generation. “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7
(Not every child has the blessing of having parents who follow this rule. Therefore, we desire to take the time we are given to invest the wonderful, liberating truths of God’s Word into every life.)
3. We desire to care for the children like Jesus did. “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14
(Jesus wanted to be around children, and Jesus wanted children to be around Him. I wonder if we look at children as Jesus did and does?)
Well, there you have it. This pretty much sums up why we open our doors every summer to the youth of Peoria, IL. I trust this short challenge will encourage and equip you to reach out to young people with a renewed love for them.
May God greatly bless the efforts of Crossroads Baptist Church during our 2014 Vacation Bible Time!
Thanks for reading and heeding.
Pastor Smith
