Handle It

Have you ever broken a glass bottle or window? What did you do after the incident? Did you sit there and do nothing, or did you pick up the pieces? I'm pretty sure that you or someone else picked up the pieces.

Why? Here's a good reason: You didn't want the shards of glass to come back and stab or slice you at a later date. You probably did more than pick up the pieces. You probably vacuumed, wiped, cleaned, scanned over the general location and maybe even vacuumed again! Why? Because you grasp the after affects of leaving glass laying around without even having to step on the broken glass.

In essence: YOU "HANDLE IT.

The old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

BUT - What if there are some broken things in your life? TREAT them as broken glass, and handle each situation through the wisdom of the WORD of GOD.

There are three broken areas of life we need to handle wisely as we study through Proverbs 16. They jump off the page as follows: 1. Handle your heart, 2. Handle your tongue, and 3. Handle your work.  Please join us as we give a simple outline which brings out the HOW's of handling wisely our hearts, tongues and works.

I. Handle your heart v. 1
The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. Proverbs 16:1
A. So you’re not an abomination vs 5
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. Proverbs 16:5
B. So your way is directed and not devised vs 9
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. Proverbs 16:9
C. So you are prudent vs 21
The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. Proverbs 16:21
D. So you say the right things vs 23
The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. Proverbs 16:23
II. Handle your tongue v. 1
The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. Proverbs 16:1
A. As a King should vs 10
A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment. Proverbs 16:10
B. As a King loves vs 13
Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. Proverbs 16:13
C. So your words are pleasant vs 24
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. Proverbs 16:24
D. So you’re not sowing seeds of destruction or separating friends vs 27-28, 30
An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire. Proverbs 16:27A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends. Proverbs 16:28He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass. Proverbs 16:30
III. Handle your way v. 2
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. Proverbs 16:2
A. So there’s departure from evil vs 6
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. Proverbs 16:6
B. So there’s peace vs 7
When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7
C. So you avoid the ways of death vs 25
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 16:25
D. So your not blindly led vs 29
A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good. Proverbs 16:29
IV. Handle your work v. 3
Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Proverbs 16:3
AGAIN, let's be wise and handle each of these issues of life. If they are broken, clean things up and start over. Let's be honest with where we are at, and, by the strength and power of the Lord, let's get to where we need to be!
