God SO Loved
We have a God who "SO' loves us!
Let me recap a couple messages we recently heard on this most powerful topic.
John 3:14-18
"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
First, let's look at the World-wide Cross. You can listen to this message by clicking here.
We jumped to Numbers 21 with the story of Moses listing up the serpent in the wilderness to note the following:
I. The sting of sin is death vs 4-6
II. Salvation from sin is desired vs 7
III. The Saviour from sin is displayed vs 8-9
Second, let's look at the World-wide Compassion. (This message did not get recorded.)
In this message we broke down John 3:16 by using the Christmas tract entitled, “The Greatest Gift:" John 3:16 has often been called "the heart of the Bible" and "the gospel in miniature." It especially expresses the true meaning of Christmas–the reason Jesus came into this world. Consider these simple, powerful words:
I. GOD - the greatest Lover
II. SO LOVED - the greatest degree
III. THE WORLD - the greatest number
IV. THAT HE GAVE - the greatest act
V. HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON - the greatest Gift
VI. THAT WHOSOEVER - the greatest invitation
VII. BELIEVETH - the greatest simplicity
VIII. IN HIM - the greatest Person
IX. SHOULD NOT PERISH - the greatest deliverance
X. BUT - the greatest difference
XI. HAVE - the greatest certainty
XII. EVERLASTING LIFE - the greatest possession
Last, let's look at the World-wide Condemnation. You can listen to this message by clicking here.
I. Condemnation is not desirable - think about how undesirable the purchase of a condemned house would be.
II. Condemnation is already determined - John 3:18b
III. Condemnation is already defeated - John 3:17-18a
